  1. Pressure cook Red Lentils with red chilli powder, turmeric, chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste until done. Wash and peel the yellow cucumber before chopping into bite sized pieces. Don't forget to remove all the seeds. You can even use Pigeon Pea Lentils or Toor Daal also instead of Masoor Daal.
  2. Let the cooker settle down on it's own before opening the lid. Add the green chillies, curry leaves and the pumpkin pieces. Also add the tamarind water squeezing it well to the daal. Cook on a medium high heat and adjust salt according to taste.
  3. Heat oil for the tempering as the final step. Oil should be added generously. Do use at least 3 tablespoons of it. It's a must for a yummy Daal.
