- Get 6 pieces Catla fish
- Get 2 tsp salt or as per taste
- Take 2 tsp turmeric powder
- Make ready 1 tsp cumin powder

- Take 3 green cardamoms

- Take 5-6 green chillies,slited
- Take 1 tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves
This fish curry I made with my sister recipe, she gave me a bottle of whole yellow mustard seeds and recipe to use the mustard in different recipe. Fish curry is one of the most special recipes and it tastes finger licking good. Meen Gassi (Mangalorean fish curry) is a popular dish served with rice in the coastal area of Mangalore, located in the southern state of Karnataka, India. - Clean, wash and then marinate pieces of fish with 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt; keep it for 5-10 minutes.

- Heat oil in a pan,till it reaches smoking point.
- Add marinated pieces of fish,fry both sides till colour change, keep it aside.
- In same oil add onion paste,fry it till golden brown.
- Add ginger paste, cook it till oil separated.
- Add tomato puree, cook it again for 5 minutes.
- Add rest turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder,red chilli powder, cook it for 5-6 minutes.
- Add water and allow it to boil for couple of minutes.
- Now add cashew nuts paste, salt and sugar, cover and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add pieces of fish, again cover and cook for 5-6 minutes or till it done.
- In low flame add orange juice, orange zest, slited green chillies, prepared garam masala powder, chopped coriander leaves and put off the flame.
- Serve with steamed rice and enjoy.
The orange juice adds a sweet and tart note to the complex and spicy curry powder. The bell peppers are sweet, and the chicken becomes meltingly tender and almost velvety when cooked this way.
